Boudoir photography seems like it should be reserved for the rich and famous (or maybe just Kim Kardashian), but it’s actually a lot more accessible than you think. It’s also a lot of fun! Boudoir photography is about seeing yourself in a new light, learning to love parts of your body that you may not have before–and what better way to do that than by taking photos? If you’re thinking about doing a boudoir shoot but aren’t sure where to start or whether it’s right for you, I’d be happy to help answer any questions or concerns!

Boudoir Photography is a way to make you feel good.

Boudoir photography is a way to make you feel good. It’s not about exposing yourself on camera—it’s about feeling confident and sexy in your own skin. A boudoir session can be a valuable tool to help build your self-esteem and confidence in all aspects of your life. As women, it is constantly implied that we need to look a certain way or have certain body attributes to be considered desirable. There is so much social pressure put on due to unrealistic standards for what’s considered beautiful or sexy, and if we don’t fit into those standards, then we are less than perfect as human beings! This just isn’t true! Every person has their own unique beauty that should be celebrated by everyone around them—no matter how big their thighs may be or whether they have cellulite on their butt cheeks. (yes, ladies, I said it!)

Boudoir is different than glamour photography.

Boudoir photography differs from glamour photography, though the two are sometimes conflated with blurred lines. Glamour photography is about clothes and their effects on a person’s body. It can be used for commercial or artistic purposes, but it usually involves taking photos of a model wearing fancy clothing in studio settings with creative lighting. Boudoir photography does not have this same focus on fashion and accessories; instead, boudoir photographers focus on capturing the essence of your physical beauty—the unique curves and lines that tell your individual story. This can take the form of artistic nudes or tasteful semi-nude images. There is nothing wrong with glamour work, but if you’re looking specifically for boudoir images, remember your goals before booking any sessions!

Boudoir allows you to see yourself in a new, positive light.

Boudoir photography is a great way to get a fresh perspective on yourself. Unlike the selfie-esque photos, you’re used to seeing, boudoir photography is all about emphasizing your strengths and unique qualities. You can do it either by yourself or with a friend or professional photographer in their studio or at your home, and in 5 years of doing this, I have never had anyone say they didn’t love their photo!

It’s empowering–and fun!

You’ll feel more confident and empowered.

You’ll see yourself in a new light.

You’ll be able to share your photos with others.

You’ll be able to look at yourself in a new way.

You’ll be able to see your body in a new way.
