EMOTIVE BOUDOIR PORTRAITS

These are some of my favourite boudoir portraits that I shot all year. With my roots being in portrait photography, these type of images are always going to have a special place in my heart. It’s one thing to capture a provocative picture of someone in their underwear or less, but it’s another to capture the real person. The real emotion. The real sense of how they want to be portrayed in their images. It doesn’t always require a look at the camera. Sometimes it’s a look away. Sometimes it’s eyes closed. Sometimes you leave the viewer wanting to know more about what they’re thinking. Other times you know exactly what they’re thinking.

SHIBARI, KINK & EROTICA

This year we’ve been shooting more images that have an erotic and kink/BDSM feel to them. We realize these types images are not for everyone. And nor does anyone have to do images like this in their session unless they want to. But we believe that if someone wants to capture images, and this is a part of their sexual identity then it absolutely should be worked into a session. No questions asked and no judgment.

We’ve had the pleasure this year of being introduced to Chris who is an amazing Shibari Rigger and has become not only a friend but also a part of what we do at the studio. We’ve introduced an add-on for our sessions so that if someone wanted to add Shibari ties to their session as a look or an element of their shoot, we now have the option.

MANY MORE MEN

We’re so thrilled that we saw so many more guys coming through the studio. The kind of men that understand why boudoir is such a powerful thing. Feeling sexy and feeling confident applies to men just as much as it does to women. The problem is that for men to do a session like this is sometimes looked up upon in a negative way and it shouldn’t be. We photograph men with strength, masculinity, and they receive the same amazing feeling as all of our female clients do. I’m really hoping that in the coming year, we have even more guys taking this leap and doing something for themselves.

THE ADDITION OF CHRISTA

This year we saw the edition of Christa coming into the Provocateur Images team. She fills so many roles. Not just your hype girl, stylist, hair Fluffer or “tata tamer”. She’s that person that helps us with the business in so many intangible ways. But we also shoot a lot together as she’s also the studio muse it would seem and we just keep creating incredible images together.

LIGHTING IN A MORE CINEMATIC WAY

I have definitely changed how I go about lighting a scene for a boudoir portrait. As many of you know, I’m heavily influenced by movies and I love to work in mixed color, lighting and small light sources and more pinpoint like that makes you look at the image and think you’re a still shot from inside a movie. I feel that I grew a lot with this in 2025 and was much more intentional with how I lit things and how I used various light sources to give an ambiance to the scene. Also started using smoke machines and diffusion filters far more to create ambiance and character to a scene.

PARTICIPATED IN A NAKED IN HOUSE PHOTO COMPETITION

One thing that I started doing in 2025 is getting out there and trying to showcase what I do. I participated in a naked in the house competition and then stayed around to shoot some additional images with the models. It was a great experience and I hope to replicate more of this in 2026. It’s always a great challenge when I can go head to head with some of the most amazing photographers and come out learning and being appreciated for what I created. I’ve always struggled with the feeling of not being good enough and being judged harshly. This is something I don’t like about myself, and I know it holds me back.

These images may not have their own specific category. They are just honestly, some of the images that I feel were either pivotal and growth, something that stood out to me, a client that wowed me and made me really appreciate the job that I have or maybe it’s just a really cool image.
